Tuesday update: Riverton Police Department Captain Todd Byerly released the following statement, “At this time the incident is being thoroughly investigated. As soon as more information is available, the Riverton Police Department will disseminate that information in the proper manner. There is no cause for concern as there is no belief or evidence that indicates a threat to public safety at this time.”
County 10 has received several questions over the last two days regarding an incident that took place early Sunday morning at a Riverton bar.
Details to us are extremely limited about the incident at this point. The Riverton Police Department told us they are still working on their incident report and investigation. When that information is released to us, we’ll pass it along.
Here’s what we know so far:
At 1:36 a.m. Sunday, December 9th Riverton Police and Fremont County Sheriff’s were dispatched to 702 East Main Street, the location of The Boot Bar and Grill.
The report indicated there was a “large group of people fighting,” and that “shots were fired” in the incident.
We also have confirmed that EMS dispatched an ambulance to the scene. It remains unclear if anyone was injured and what the extent of those injuries was.
One person on the scene was arrested by RPD on this scene for “Possession of a Controlled Substance and Interference.” It is unclear whether or not that person was involved in the altercation.
When we know more from the Riverton Police Department or Fremont County Sheriff’s office, we’ll update with a new story.
