Dentists and their patients rate at the top for exposure to disease – Rendezvous Dental is temporarily closed

Rendezvous Dental will be temporarily closed to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Dr. Crane and his team will reevaluate the situation at the end of each week and keep the public updated. They are happy to come in and see people based on an emergency basis. Simply call the office at 307-856-2778.

Because of the nature of the dental profession, there’s a high risk of the virus being spread. If there’s someone in a dental office who has the virus and a dentist or hygienist is working on them, that virus can be aerosolized. And then anybody in the office can be exposed to it. The chart below shows dentists at the very top of the “exposure to diseases” in relation to the physical proximity of others, almost at 100%.

We are closing in an effort to work with other people in the community to stop the spread of the virus, so it doesn’t overwhelm our health care workers, because dentists offices are considered one of the highest risk places for spreading of the virus. I want to be proactive and not worsen the problem. -Dr. Crane

It’s all about flattening the curve. The idea is to increase social distancing in order to slow the spread of the virus so that you don’t get a huge spike in the number of people getting sick all at once. If that were to happen, there wouldn’t be enough hospital beds or mechanical ventilators for everyone who needs them, and the U.S. hospital system would be overwhelmed.

Rendezvous Dental will offer some extended hours once they are fully reopened and they’re happy to reschedule you for a later date now.
