CWC’s Bradley clinches spot at the CNFR

The Rustlers traveled to Casper this past weekend to compete at the Ropin’ and Riggin’ Days Rodeo, hosted by the Casper T-Birds.  After the dust had settled, Karson Bradley was able to secure a spot to compete at the CNFR with still one rodeo remaining in the regular season.

Karson was the only one on the women’s team to make the short round on Sunday.  She placed third in the long round with a 15.17 second run in the Barrel Racing, followed up with a 15.13 in the short round which placed fourth in the round and fourth in the average.  More importantly, she gathered up 100 points towards the year end.  With that she can place no lower than third in the region, which punched her a ticket to compete at her first CNFR this June.

Nate Weyrich and Neale Jones both made it back to the championship round in the Steer Wrestling.  Neale placed sixth in the long round with a 6.7 second run, but was a 15.4 in the short round and dropped him to seventh in the average.  Nate placed third in the long round with a 5.3 and fourth in the short round with a 6.0.  His combined time of 11.3 placed him second in the average.  With that he moved all the way from the ninth position to second in the region with one rodeo remaining.

“I am happy for Karson,” said Coach Schrock.  “She has worked her tail off these past two seasons and wants to win the nation in the Barrel Racing at the collegiate level, now she is one step closer to making that goal happen.  She knew that if she had a good weekend in Casper that she could secure a spot to compete at the CNFR, she did that, now she will try to move up one more spot in the region this next weekend in hopes of winning the region.  Nate Weyrich put himself in contentions of making it in the Steer Wrestling after his performance this past weekend, he is now sitting second in the region.  So as it looks right now, both he and Brady have a shot of making it in the Steer Wrestling, which is obviously what we are pulling for.  It would be neat if they did, because they are both riding Brady’s horse “Lucky,” who packed Brady’s sister to two National Championships in the Goat Tying while she was competing for Gillette College.”

The Rustlers will finish up their season at the University of Wyoming on April 26-28.
