CWC temporarily closes Food Court due to COVID exposure

Central Wyoming College received notification of possible exposure to COVID in the Food Court in early Feb. 2. CWC’s COVID Response Team moved to temporarily shut the Food Court down to reduce the risk of more exposure to COVID.

“Due to the nature of the Food Court activities, interactions with patrons, and many high touch surface areas, we made the executive decision to close the Food Court to mitigate the risk of exposing more people,” said Dr. Kathy Wells, CWC’s COVID Incident Commander.

Employees and students were quickly notified of the potential exposure risk and have been asked to take proper precautions. Those precautions were based on the current Centers for Disease Control guidance for both vaccinated and unvaccinated people.

The Food Court will be closed until Feb. 8. While the Food Court is closed Steve Barlow, Dean of students, said that students in housing will receive meals from other sources.

“We are handling the situation and taking care of our students,” Barlow said. The COVID Response Team will continue to monitor the situation.
