(Lander, Wyo.) – The Fremont County Weed and Pest Control office reports no new West Nile Virus infected mosquitos were detected this past week in either Riverton, Hudson or Lander.
Ninety-two mosquitos were trapped in Riverton, two were found in a single Lander trap, and 15 were found in Hudson.
Riverton last trapped a WNV infected Culex mosquito the first week of August and Lander had a WNV detection in the species three weeks ago.
Since that time, the Wyoming Department of Health said one Fremont County resident had been diagnosed with the mosquito borne disease, but the location of the person was not disclosed. Health Department officials remind local residents to be mosquito aware and avoid contact with the insects in the early morning and late afternoon by wearing full length pants and long sleeve shirts and/or using mosquito repellant containing Deet whenever going outside.
