    COVID numbers remain low at Riverton Honor Farm

    (Riverton, WY) – As of Tuesday, December 29th only 2 active cases of COVID-19 at the Wyoming Honor Farm have been reported, according to the latest Wyoming Department of Corrections update. This number includes 1 staff member and 1 inmate at the facility.

    In total, the number of confirmed positive COVID cases totals 42 within all DOC facilities -this includes the Honor Farm. Those cases were identified in routine surveillance samplings conducted last week, the release noted.

    There are 16 confirmed cases within the Wyoming Medium Correction Institution in Torrington. The majority of cases, 13, are reported among staff members, and only 3 in the inmate population.

    The majority of cases are at the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins. There are 21 cases reported within the inmate population and 3 among staff members.

    There have been four inmate deaths reported since the beginning of October in DOC facilities outside of Fremont County, most recently on December 22nd. The DOC confirmed in today’s release that none of the deaths to date are attributed to COVID-19.

    The DOC is working with the Wyoming Department of Health, all positive inmate cases are medically monitored and managed by the Department and their health care provider (Corizon Health, Inc.) in accordance with CDC guidelines.

    The Department continues conducting rigorous surveillance testing at all sites as necessary and will provide additional information as it becomes available.
