A strong Class 3-A Worland Warriors squad won the annual Roy Peck Invitational Track meet on Saturday under near perfect late spring weather. The Warriors outpaced second place Class 4-A Natrona County to win the title.

The Lady Mustangs won the girls division, with the Lander Lady Tigers runnerup.

The quality weather led to a plethora of automatic qualifying performances in all divisions from Class 1-A to 4-A.

Riverton was paced by a pair of wins by senior sprinter Tristan Watkins who swept the short sprints. The Wolverine 4×800 meter relay of Kaden Chatfield, Jacob Castro, Connor Gopp, and Azaniah Guthrie also earned a first place finish in 9:16.90.

Fremont County’s other gold medalist in the boys division went to Dubois junior Ryan Wells in the triple jump.

Lander competed without their star hurdler and middle distance runners. Gage Gose and Blaine Goklish traveled to Orem, Utah on Saturday to compete in the Tiger Trials.

Gose was second in the high hurdles with a career best time of 14.88 but the fleet footed junior blistered the longer hurdles, winning the 300 meter intermediate race in yet another Lander school record.

His time of 38.69 is the fastest in Wyoming this season. He was aided by Orem High School senior Logan Jensen who set a blistering pace early in the race in an attempt to set his own school record. Gose outlasted him down the stretch but Jensen had an equally impressive time of 38.88.

All eight placers in the 300 meter hurdles finished under 40 second, a remarkable field.

Blaine Goklish completed in the 1600 and 800 meter runs.

His time of 4:34.47 in the 1600, often known as the “metric mile” was a season best by six seconds, he finished 17th in the event, and was 10th in the 800 meter run against a huge field of 180 distance runners, representing the best athletes in Northern Utah.

Lander’s Avery Crane won the 300 meter hurdles, breaking 50 seconds to take the gold.

Wind River high jumper Emma Miller cleared 4-10 to win to take first in the vertical jump.

Riverton won the Sprint Medley Relay with Victoria Gale, and Ciarah Hall running 200 meter legs, Samantha Ablard the 400 meter leg and McAye Fegler the 800 meter anchor leg in 4:38.31.
