(Riverton, Wyo.) – Hot conditions will be in place across western and central Wyoming today. Winds will be light, but much of the vegetation below 8500 ft is very dry, according to the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Riverton.
Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 90s over the lower elevations, with temperatures over 100 possible in the Bighorn Basin. Relative humidity will drop below 15 percent in the afternoon. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon and evening as well.
Temperatures will decrease on Monday with increasing relative humidity on Monday with an increasing chance of rain, especially in the mountains.
Outdoor burning is highly discouraged! Activities that produce sparks, such as grinding and welding are not recommended. Avoid parking in high grass and do not throw cigarette butts out. Drown your campfires!
