Commission signs off on west end Mortimore Lane reconstruction project at Lander
(Lander, Wyo.) – Fremont County Road and Bridge projects were discussed at Tuesday’s county commission meeting at the courthouse in Lander.
In action items Tuesday, the commissioners signed off on a certificate of substantial completion for work on the west end of Mortimore Lane south of Lander. A final change order for a culvert extension along the route was also approved for $5,837.19. The existing culvert at that location was in conflict with the roadway’s “clear zone” said Transportation Department Superintendent Dave Pendleton. “We had to realign the end of the culvert beyond the end of the clear zone,” he said. “That improved the safety of the roadway.”
Consulting Engineer Kyle Lehto also reported that the Reiman Corporation of Cheyenne was the successful low bidder for repair work on the bridge next to the fire hall in Atlantic City. Reiman’s bid was $44,250. The bid was substantially less than the engineer’s estimate of $78,000. Lehto said beams taken from the Cooper Road Bridge replacement project near Riverton earlier this year would be used at Atlantic City, helping to reduce the cost of materials. Both sides of the bridge will be replaced, with one lane kept open throughout the project. Completion is expected by the end of November.
