According to the National Weather Service office in Riverton, that thick haze you’re probably noticing around central Wyoming is actually coming from Montana wildfires.
A cold front is forcing the air further south.
NWS Riverton reports that the smoke will limit visibility Thursday morning.

A cold front sweeping southward across the state is bringing smoke from fires in Central Montana into the region. Visibility will drop to 2 to 3 miles at times as the front passes, with improving visibility expected 3 to 6 hours after passage of the front.
