“Coffee With A Cop” event Wednesday morning gave community members a chance to interact with RPD officers

The Riverton Police Department took part in national “Coffee With A Cop” day Wednesday.

Chief of Police Eric Murphy and Police Captain Todd Byerly visited with citizens at Riverton’s Brown Sugar Coffee Roastery.

Officers said that the event was an opportunity to let community members voice concerns, and help them get to know the RPD better.

They also noted that they are hoping to do more community-involved events in the future. A “Rock A Cop” event with Fremont County Youth is scheduled where teenagers will be able to play video games with RPD officers at the library. Chief Murphy says they’re looking into other community programs such as “Neighborhood Watch” and “Citizens Police Acadamy.”

Riverton City Councilman Tim Hancock was in attendance, along with a handful of other coffee drinkers.
