(Lander, WY) – 1330 KOVE AM / 107.7 FM’s Coffee Time host Vince Tropea sat down with Chris McDonald, Head Chef of the Cowfish Restaurant here in Lander, who was recently named as one of the semi-finalists for a James Beard Award.
For those who may not know, the James Beard awards are some of the most prestigious awards given in the culinary world, which oftentimes bring chefs national attention for their work.
McDonald is up for the five state Best Chef: Mountain Region award, which includes Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Idaho, and Montana.
The James Beard Foundation also “celebrates and supports the people behind America’s food culture, while pushing for new standards in the restaurant industry to create a future where all have the opportunity to thrive.
“Established over 30 years ago, the Foundation has highlighted the centrality of food culture in our daily lives and is committed to supporting a resilient and flourishing industry that honors its diverse communities.”
McDonald shared his journey as a chef, from overcoming personal struggles, mentoring various employees both personally and professionally, to gaining and amassing culinary knowledge from the many talented chefs he has worked with over the years.
