Cody Firearms Museum to host “Arsenal of History” Firearms Symposium this July
The Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming has devoted itself to sharing the story of the authentic American West since 1917. This July they continue sharing that story with the Cody Firearms Musem’s (CFM) Arsenal of History Firearms Symposium.
International firearms experts and museum professionals will be traveling to Cody to present and enjoy the symposium. Among those experts Ashley Hlebinsky, the Robert W. Woodruff Curator of the CFM, who recently received the prestigious Grits Gresham Shooting Sports Communicator Award. Her, along with the Assistant Curator of the CFM, Danny Michael, organized the symposium and will be presenting alongside other experts.
Not only will firearms experts be from museums across the country they will also travel from as far as Britain to discuss how they maintain their firearm collections.
This symposium will take place over the course of two days, July 17 and July 18.
The first day, July 17, will be free and open to the public with feature speakers from all over! Anne Strainchamps, who has aired on Wisconsin Public Radio and National Public Radio, with her show To the Best of Our Knowledge, will be moderating a lunchtime session to discuss remaining neutral with firearms. Don’t worry if you can’t make her speech in person you can still watch via Facebook Live.
The next day, July 18, will only be open to museum professionals and will cost a fee of $15. To be eligible for this day you must register in advance, to do this contact Danny Michael or call 307-578-4099. Lunch will be included this day and sessions will be in the COE auditorium.
