Classical Education Grades 6-12: Western Heritage Lutheran Academy Open House this week!

Western Heritage Lutheran Academy (WHLA) is excited to invite the public to an Open House on June 6th from 4pm to 6pm. The event will take place at the school, located at 611 East Main Street in Riverton. This Open House is an excellent opportunity for both returning and potential students to discover what makes WHLA unique.

    Discover WHLA’s Classical Education

WHLA is committed to providing a classical education that inspires a lifelong love of learning. The curriculum is designed to cultivate critical thinking, eloquence, and a deep appreciation for knowledge.

Brandi Maxson, who will be teaching middle school, has been a resident of Riverton for 17 years and has classically educated her own children for the past seven years.

Brandi shares, “I chose to teach at WHLA because I enjoy teaching the classical model. I want to be able to help foster a love of learning with these students. I think the classical model does that very well.”

This year, Brandi is particularly excited about teaching geography, with a special project where students will learn to draw and label the world from memory, along with sharing some fantastic books.

Misty Linfoot, the high school teacher, has been part of the Riverton community since childhood. With a degree in Special Education from Western Governors University, Misty has dedicated six years to education and has been with WHLA for one year.

Misty chose WHLA for its commitment to Christ-centered content and the close-knit community it fosters.

She explains, “Classical education is such a great approach to teaching because it helps students to become self-learners. In Classical education, students study non-typical subject matter such as Logic and Rhetoric. These subjects teach students how to think for themselves and how to be excellent communicators.”

    Meet the Passionate Teachers

During the Open House, attendees will have the chance to meet Brandi and Misty, and School Board Members who are all passionate about classical education and helping students grow both academically and spiritually.

    Tour the School

Visitors can explore the school, experiencing firsthand the welcoming environment WHLA provides. This is a great opportunity to see how the classical curriculum can benefit students’ education and future.
