City of Lander warns of frost level; Residents may want to run water to avoid freezing pipes

The City of Lander has announced that the frost level in the ground has reached almost 4 feet deep.

If you have a shallow water service line or have had problems with your house water freezing in the past, you may want to run water to avoid freezing pipes.

Running a water stream the size of a pencil lead in the farthest sink from the water meter is usually all that is needed in most cases.

The City of Lander will allow residential 5/8″ meters (not trailer parks or apartment houses) to rn an additional 2,000 gallons of water per billing period starting January 7th, 2019. Your January bill will show your standard base rate of 4,000 gallons has been increased up to 6,000 gallons at no additional charge.

The City will issue another release in the spring when it is safe to stop running water.
