(Riverton, WY) – The Christmas Powwow, a traditional healing and gathering, is happening now until 10 pm today, December 27th at the Fremont Center – grand entry was earlier this afternoon.
This is the first one since the pandemic and is smaller than usual, shared Becky Bell. Usually, there is more than one powwow between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
A family is also selected every year to honor a loved one who has passed or is ailing. This year, the Willow family was selected to honor Thomas Denego, who passed away in August.
In addition to Arapaho Nation and Little Brave drum groups, Eagle Society is also there.
Becky noted it is an honor to have Eagle Society since they are a prestigious group.
