Chicago company working to turn Yellowstone National Park microbes into vegan meat

Chicago startup company Nature’s Fynd has raised $45 million to bring a new vegan product innovation to Wyoming.

According to VegNews.com, the company has been working with volcanic microbes found in Yellowstone National Park since 2008. Now they’re hoping to distribute their product across the world.

Researchers have been isolating the Yellowstone microorganisms, feeding them glycerin and starches, then letting them ferment in a laboratory. This apparently creates an animal-free protein with amino acids and is high in fiber and vitamins.

Ultimately, they are hoping that retailers will work with them in distributing the meat alternative.
