Cheyenne resident led WHP on I-80 pursuit today

24-year-old Cheyenne resident Jayden L. S. Christensen fled Wyoming Highway Patrol Troopers after they attempted to stop him for a traffic violation today, August 7th.

Christensen reportedly failed to stop and fled west on Otto Road and eventually driving east on I-80 toward Cheyenne “at a high rate of speed.”

WHP troopers and area agency law enforcement deployed equipment to deflate the vehicle tires several times but were unsuccessful in their attempts.

The pursuit continued east of Cheyenne on Interstate 80 before the driver made a u-turn to head back towards Cheyenne. Around milepost 368 on I-80, Cheyenne Police were able to deploy equipment to deflate Christensen’s vehicle tires successfully.

He temporarily lost control of the car, causing it to go off the north side of the roadway and through the right-of-way fence. WHP troopers followed the vehicle over to Venture Boulevard, where it became disabled a short distance later.

Christensen was taken into custody without further incident and is facing multiple traffic charges as well as felony and misdemeanor drug possession charges.

The Cheyenne Police Department and Laramie County Sheriff’s Office assisted the patrol in this event.
