Central Wyoming girls golf wins their second tournament of the spring season

Press Release by Central Wyoming Athletics

Rustler Golfers traveled to Otero College in southern Colorado for the second weekend of Spring Golf. Aubree Johnson would shoot a two day 155, going 78-77, to win the women’s division this week. Interim Coach Jorden James was proud if Aubree’s first win of the spring, “Aubree played one of her better rounds in some terrible weather.”

Ely LeBlanc was five strokes back in second place with Lexi Cornell placing third. Maddie Baker tied for fourth while Cambree Crowther tied for sixth. The women won the team standings handily.

James continued, “I was really impressed overall with the team’s ability to grind though the tough weather and produce some good scores. There are some things that we need to iron down before our run at the district tournament but overall we are very close to where we need to be.”

The CWC men were led by Dominic Yates who tied for seventh shooting 74-76 in the two days. Trevor Berry tied for 19th. The men finished fourth overall once again. James said of his men’s team, “On the mens side am very pleased with how everyone handled themselves this weekend, while I still believe we are falling short of our true potential as a team, and we struggle with certain aspects of the course and weather. We made huge strides the second round of the tournament hanging in there with some of the best in the region”

CWC Golfers were to travel to McCook, Nebraska for this week’s competition. The weather, however, is not expected to be conducive for golf. They have moved the McCook event to one day and it will be Wednesday of next week before the teams travels to NJC in Sterling, Colorado, on Thursday and Friday.
