CDS of Fremont County is hiring an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

Child Development Services is currently hiring for the following position in Fremont County. The positionwould start immediately.

TITLE:
Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

Exempt contracted position

CREDENTIALS:
Eligible for Wyoming Teaching Certificate and Early Childhood Special Education Endorsement.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful experience as a teacher of children with developmental delays ages birth through five preferred. Must be 23 years of age. Have and keep a current driver’s license as well as have the willingness to travel.

REPORTS TO:
Identified supervisor(s) and under the general supervision of the Executive Director.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains confidentiality with all aspects of our program, including client files, personnel issues and the Administrative Department of the organization.
  • Will complete an appropriate evaluation and IEP/IFSP for students, including a report summarizing the results of the evaluation.
  • Comply with all Federal and State regulations pertaining to Special Education children birth through five, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Rules and Regulations of the State of Wyoming Department of Education and the Behavioral Health Division.
  • Will adopt/adapt a data collection system for the highest priority objectives for each child.
  • Will provide other team members with ongoing information regarding each child’s current status and IEP/IFSP modifications.
  • Teach preschool students with developmental delays in the identified environment, concentrating on implementing the individualized program for each student.
  • Provide appropriate out of special class learning opportunities (i.e. home programs, parent training) as prescribed in each student’s Individualized Education Program/Individualized Family Service Plan.
  • Participate in MDT, IFSP, IEP and review meetings.
  • Work with staff to implement child find activities.
  • Work with staff to evaluate students learning styles, strengths, and weaknesses, using appropriate testing and diagnostic techniques.
  • Will participate in staff meetings regarding program operations.
  • Comply with state and federal regulations as prescribed by Federal and State of Wyoming laws and rules and regulations.
  • Will comply with all Department of Family Services requirements, including STARS training requirements.
  • Will maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Able to travel/drive to required scheduled assignments.
  • Will attend required meetings.
  • Will adopt/adapt a data collection system for the highest priority objectives for each child.
  • Evaluate all staff you are assigned supervision of on an annual basis, in line with the policy and procedures set forth by the Board of Directors.
  • Maintain and increase professional growth through attendance at various workshops and in-services relating to the profession, as well as keeping abreast of new literature in the field.
  • Maintain regular and continuous liaison with the Executive Director to keep them informed of significant events in the program, staffing, personnel, community and family issues.
  • Be responsible for maintaining the general cleanliness and upkeep of the physical facility and equipment and notify the Executive Director of the need for additional attention to repairs or maintenance.
  • Adhere to the established policies, procedures and regulations of the facility.
  • Be an advocate for children and families.

Will provide individualized family education to address specific needs including:

  • Parenting skills
  • Basic health care and health promotion
  • Child safety
  • Childhood illnesses
  • Coping skills and stress management
  • Child Development

Will mentor teachers:

  • We will meet with preschool teachers who conduct individual/small group activities to teach specific skills no less than once a month to discuss techniques and program modification.
  • Will provide assistants with written instructions when they are teaching specific skills.

Will:

  • Maintain and ensure each child’s monthly therapy notes are completed.
  • Conduct MDT/IEP/IFSP meetings as assigned.
  • Provide written documentation of MDT/IEP/IFSP meetings.
  • Coordinate services with other agencies involved in the child’s program, such as PHN, DFS, local school districts, etc. as assigned.

CONTRACT TERM:
Negotiable by Child Development Services Board of Directors

EVALUATION:
As per Child Development Services policies and procedures.
