    Carol Lynn (Horton) Roemer

Carol Lynn (Horton) Roemer of Riverton went to her heavenly reward on July 16, 2019, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 68 years old.

Carol was born on June 27, 1951, in Craig, Colorado to Charles Benjamin and Opal Mae (Brenner) Horton. Her family moved to Riverton, Wyoming where she grew up. She graduated from Riverton High School with the class of 1968.

Carol married Charles M. Roemer in 1973 and they had one son, Charles Michael “Mike” Roemer. They later divorced.

In addition to her family and friends, two of Carol’s passions were her Christian faith and her love of horses. She learned early on how to ride and care for horses, she carried this love well into her adult life. She owned and operated Roemer Quarter Horses near Fort Washakie, Wyoming for many years alongside her husband and son. Besides raising, training and showing horses, Carol served for many years as a 4-H Leader in Fremont County teaching countless youth how to ride and care for horses.

When her son Mike began high school, Carol began a new career with what was then known as the Soil Conservation Service; now known as The Natural Resource’s Conservation Service. Carol worked in various capacities over the years, always leaving those she encountered very pleased with the work that she did. Many of the structures she designed and had installed, can still be found around Fremont County. She ended her career in Virginia before her health caused her to retire and return home to Wyoming.

She is survived by her son, Mike Roemer and wife Becky; brother Gary Horton and wife Kenna; a sister Kathy Saltsgaver and husband Rusty; as well as her niece and nephews and many other extended family members and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 22nd, 2019 with Visitation to begin at 9:30AM at The Lander Church of Christ, 1320 Sinks Canyon Road, Lander, Wyoming. Funeral Services will begin at 10:30AM, also at the church.
