    #Breaking: Riverton Police involved in gunfight Thursday

    The Riverton Police Department continues to investigate a scene on West Monroe between 1st and 2nd Streets Thursday after what was an apparent gunfight nearby.

    RPD Police Chief Eric Murphy released the following details about the incident.

    The Riverton Police Department has been working in conjunction with a Federal Agency on a convicted felon who was illegally possessing firearms and threatening Law Enforcement. Officers were in contact with the male subject today around 11:00 am at Monroe and 1st Street, the suspect fired upon officers who returned fire. The suspect was transported to the Sage West Hospital for injuries, No officers were injured.

    Police have taped off a two-block section of W. Monroe and several of the surrounding streets. Traffic will be redirected while the investigation continues.
