Boys & Girls Club of Riverton donated food to families Wednesday

(Riverton, WY) – The Boys & Girls Club of Riverton (BGCR) organized and distributed Christmas Food Baskets to families this holiday season.

With a little over a week to plan, 50 boxes of non-perishable food items were put together on Saturday. Volunteers ranged from the BGCR advisory board to staff from Rendezvous Elementary School, which is where the club is located.

In addition to non-perishable food items, families also received hamburger from the Grey Reef Ranch; they made a beef donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Central Wyoming.

After learning they would be receiving the hamburger to give out, they knew they wanted to give more, shared Mary Axthelm, a BGCR advisory board member.

WYDOT made a generous donation through their Buckle Up For Life campaign which afforded them a food basket that included a healthy meal and snacks for the kiddos.

The Riverton Rotary Club also made a generous donation which allowed the baskets to grow even more.

The new BGCR Director, Kenly Klaproth, noted his hope is to turn the Christmas Food Baskets into an annual thing. He also shared a big thank you to Rendezvous Elementary School Principal Karly Ward, Rendezvous staff and the BGCR advisory board.
