(Riverton, WY) – The body of the 15-year-old young man from Evanston, who was missing and presumed dead after an apparent accident at Pilot Butte Reservoir, was located shortly before noon Monday morning.
Sonar equipment operated by the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Organization was utilized, along with volunteer divers from the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Division.
The victim was recovered in about 45 feet of water without incident.
The case remains under investigation by the Sheriff and County Coroner’s Office.
Sheriff Ryan Lee expressed his sincere condolences to the victim’s family and friends.
Sheriff Lee praised the actions of all those involved in the search and recovery effort, and would like to thank the public for their understanding of the temporary closure of the area, which is now fully open again.
