Auditorium for Riverton High School secures potential funding

(Riverton, WY) – Riverton High School (RHS) may be getting an auditorium in the near future.

Fremont County School District (FCSD) #25 Superintendent JoAnne Flanagan attended the Select Committee on School Facilities meeting in Casper yesterday, Thursday, September 2nd.

There she spoke on behalf of the district, requesting that they put the RHS Auditorium Project into their budget for the next session.

“They have been and continue to be supportive of the project, and passed a motion to place funding into their budget,” Flanagan said of the Committee’s decision.

This is only the first step, however, as it will have to make its way through other legislative processes.

“Auditoriums are clearly considered critical learning spaces as they are part of the standard specifications for any new high school coming through the State Construction Department,” Flanagan commented.

“RHS was built through local bonds, not with state funds, and at that time did not have the bonding capacity to include an auditorium. The addition of the auditorium will complete the educational space at RHS, and allow our students K-12 the same educational opportunities as their counterparts across the state.”
