Annual Riverton Peace March happening next week

The Riverton Peace March has been an annual community-wide event to commemorate the shooting at the Center of Hope in 2015. It has evolved over the years to create a safe place for community members to share their experiences, both good and bad, and give encouragement to others who may need it.

This year’s march is planned for Saturday, July 25th. A later date was selected this year in hopes that more folks can attend since Sundance will be over, shared organizer Ron Howard. Attendees should gather at Riverton’s Rotary Park at 8:00 am and the walk to City Park starts at 9:00 am. Everyone is asked to wear a mask and observe social distancing.

Instead of speakers at City Park this year, everyone will be broken into smaller groups for talking circles. In those groups, a few questions will be asked and everyone has the opportunity to respond. Similar to the Riverton Peace Mission’s event in January.
