Annual Jason’s Friends fundraiser in Casper supports Fremont County families

#WyoStrong stories, brought to you by Wyoming Community Bank, highlight Wyoming perseverance, ingenuity, creativity and resilience.

This Saturday, March 2nd, Jason’s Friends, a Casper-based non-profit will hold their 21st Annual “Bowl for Jason’s Friends.”

The Jason’s Friends bowl-a-thon event is something of a Casper institution, which boasts nearly 1,000 bowlers and even more sponsors and supporters, according to the Facebook Page for the event. It is the organization’s primary funding source each year, through which they “support Wyoming families whose children are battling childhood cancers and brain or spinal cord tumors.”

Tammy Florquist, a Lander local, reached out to County 10 about the event. Most Fremont County residents have probably never even heard of Jason’s Friends, let alone realize they’ve helped many families right here in our community. The Florquist family is hosting a team at El Mark-O Lanes in Casper, where the fundraiser takes place every year.

“This organization has and is currently helping many Fremont County and Wyoming residents with medical bills, transportation, housing,  and so much more who have kiddos with cancer or brain/spinal cord tumors. Currently, seven Fremont County families are being helped,” Tammy shared in an email. “This is just an amazing organization.”

One of those kiddos is Triton Fritz. Triton is fast becoming a Fremont County celebrity thanks to a huge social media following around #tritontough and some high profile events in the community. Triton has had a long, hard road and Jason’s Friends has provided financial assistance for the family.

An article shared by Jason’s Friends ahead of tomorrow’s event tells Triton’s story and involvement with the organization. Jessica Fritz, Triton’s mom shared that, “in all honesty, I don’t know where we would be without the help from Jason’s Friends. I don’t know how we would have been able to keep our home without their assistance.”

The Fritz Family and many others locally and across the state have benefited from the funds raised at the Bowl for Jason’s Friends event each year. If you’d like to learn more about how you can be involved in next year’s event or how you can support them on Saturday, you can check out their website.
