    Announcing the winners of the 2019 Teen Creative Writing Contest

    The Lander Library’s Teen Creative Writing Contest concluded March 27th with an awards reception to celebrate all participants.

    Outstanding entries were received from youth across Fremont County in the form of creative writing of 1,000 words or less. During the reception Young Adult Librarian Audie Cunningham discussed the impact creative writing has on teens, and how writing can benefit the lives of all people.

    Anita Marple, Library Manager and one of two judges, discussed the impact story telling can have, whether it be through writing or through reading. Judge Dave Kelser sent his words of encouragement to the young writers, “Continue with your passion, let everyday living give you the inspiration for your stories, and always write from the heart.” Mary Wendel of the Lander Library Friends Association (our writing contest sponsor) presented prize money, $100 to each winner.

    Judges also made 3 honorable mentions to Kamdyn Sheets of Riverton, Therese Strong of Lander and Reed McFadden of Lander.
