The Laramie Boomerang is reporting that a man was fatally shot and killed in Laramie Sunday by an Albany County Sheriff’s Deputy.
The deputy has been placed on administrative leave while the Department of Criminal Investigations conducts an investigation into the incident.
Laramie Boomerang reporters interviewed Laramie resident Doris Bunn-Manfall, who told them the victim was her grandson, Robbie Ramirez.
Bunn-Manfall described Ramirez as schizophrenic. She said he was being pulled over for a traffic violation and fled the scene. The grandmother also told reporters she believed her grandson to be unarmed.
The report also said she believed the deputy involved was aware of Ramirez’s mental illness.
