Smoke has been lingering on and off in Fremont County recently due to a few neighboring wildfires. Today, October 8th, the National Weather Service in Riverton has issued an air quality alert for most of Fremont County. The alert is currently through Friday the 9th at 12:00 pm.
While most of the US is currently under a blanket of wildfire smoke, the Fire and Smoke Map shows most of Fremont County’s is currently from fires east of us. The latest snapshot of Wyoming is shared below, the blue dot on the map is Riverton.
A red flag warning also remains in effect for Fremont County through today. Low humidity, high temps and gusty winds can contribute to erratic fire behavior.
