Aerial mapping sets fire area at 42,267 acres in Terek Fire

(Worland, Wyo.) – The Terek Fire between Manderson and Hyattville is now 85 percent contained.

Minimal fire activity occurred yesterday and full perimeter containment is expected Friday,  July 13. The fire has been mapped at 42,267 acres.  This decrease in acres from yesterday is due to GPS information gathered by ground crews and helicopter operations used to more accurately map and define the fire area.

Crews will continue to secure the perimeter and increase containment. Resources will start to demobilize today. However, some ground resources will remain on the scene to focus on mop-up operations and patrol. Some smoke may remain visible throughout the area in the upcoming days from the interior of the fire.
