#Activate10: Wind River School’s Service Week begins February 7th

“Our community is large and wildly diverse, which is at the same time our strength and our weakness. #Activate10 is a movement seeking to increase communication between individuals and organizations across Fremont County and to promote positive action in our communities.”

(Pavillion, WY) – The annual Wind River School’s Service Week has given back to the community for over a decade and this year’s recipient is Mara Mills, the Wind River Learning Academy teacher.

The Service Week is running from February 7th through 12th, and will include fundraising at a basketball game, a drive-thru dinner and an online auction.

Mara was diagnosed with a type of blood cancer in September and has been undergoing weekly chemotherapy. Her next phase of treatment will require an approximately eight-week stay in Denver, which will include not only medical expenses but also things like housing, fuel and meals.

They have a goal to raise $10,000.

“Mara has done a lot for our students here at the school; she has done a lot for our district,” shared Justin Walker, Wind River Middle/High School Principal. “It’s a great opportunity for us to reach out and give back to one of our professional educators in a time that’s going to be trying and hard on her and her family.”

Community fundraisers that week are currently planned for Tuesday, February 8th during the basketball game against Big Piney. More details on that will be shared closer to the game. On Wednesday, February 9th at 6:30 pm, FFA is going to have a drive-thru smoked brisket dinner at the high school. Check the Wind River Schools Facebook page for updates as the week becomes closer.

February 7th through 12th, there will be an online auction. Items for the auction are currently being accepted. Check out the bottom of the flyer below for how to donate.
