#Activate10: Wind River Reservation Cleanup planned in April

“Our community is large and wildly diverse, which is at the same time our strength and our weakness. #Activate10 is a movement seeking to increase communication between individuals and organizations across Fremont County and to promote positive action in our communities.”

(Wind River Reservation, WY) – Multiple organizations, agencies, and individuals have planned a 3-day cleanup for the Wind River Reservation on April 21-23 from 8:00 am to 4:45 pm.

Meeting locations are at Rocky Mountain Hall in Fort Washakie, Blue Sky Hall, and White Buffalo – Outreach in Ethete, and White Buffalo Recovery Center and 789 Building Wellness Program Office (go up the red ramp) in Arapahoe, according to one of the organizers Francene Shakespeare.

Francene has been part of this annual cleanup for many years. Her granddaughter, Mackenzie, became passionate about picking up litter and recycling when she was about 8-years-old, she shared. The two of them would spend weekends picking up trash along the roadsides and pretty soon people started coming out to help them.

“We will be out there, along with a lot of people, that care about our home,” she explained about this upcoming cleanup. “I’m so proud of her [Mackenzie].”

She also asked that if folks take electronics and appliances to the collection sites, to not put them in the dumpster. They need to be transported separately.

Northern Arapaho Business Council Chair Jordan Dresser explained cleanup is essential for a healthy community. His platform when running for the NABC was going green and being responsible for littering.

He also noted the importance of education when it comes to opting for reusable items likes bags and water bottles. “It’s important to be mindful of what you are using and disposing of them properly.”

Everyone is invited to attend this event. Additional details on the planned cleanup are shared on the flyer below.
