#Activate10: Riverton grad works to establish memorial scholarship

(Riverton, WY) – Riverton High School class of 1996 alumna Mandi (Belding) Williams is working with Northwest College (NWC) in Powell to establish a memorial scholarship for fellow RHS classmate and friend Berry Bryant.

NWC requires $10,000 to start an endowment, and as timing would align, the college’s first-ever “Giving Day” is on March 25th. All donations between now and then are being matched which means only $5,000 needs to be raised to create this permanent scholarship.

“She was a positive, upbeat person,” Mandi shared about Berry whose life was taken her freshman year at NWC.

Mandi wanted to create something positive that allowed Berry’s spirit to live on for generations to come.

Donations will also go toward a memorial bench and daffodil garden on the NWC campus, according to Mandi. “So all who knew her have a place to remember her where her light hones the brightest.”

Executive Director of the NWC Foundation Shelby Wetzel shared that once the funding is met, she will work with Mandi, Berry’s mom, and any other key folks involved with the effort to set the criteria for the scholarship.

Donations can be made by clicking here.
