#Activate10: New Riverton nonprofit founded to help local students and teachers
Our community is large and wildly diverse, which is at the same time our strength and our weakness. #Activate10 is a movement seeking to increase communication between individuals and organizations across Fremont County and to promote positive action in our communities.
Rise of the Phoenix nonprofit was founded to help local students by raising funds for teachers to purchase what they need in the classroom. They plan to organize several fundraisers throughout the year, and all money raised will be given directly to Riverton teachers in both private and public schools.
“Teachers are pulling money out of their own pockets to supply essentials for the students, and we would like to relieve some of that stress on an annual basis,” shared founder Valerie Leseberg. Small impacts, like essential school supplies, can create an organic change for students to receive the best education possible and have a positive ripple effect on their future. “We want to help our kids so they can grow up to be healthier all around.”
Rise of the Phoenix’s very first fundraiser, 1st Annual Rise of the Phoenix Charity Ball & Auction, is at the Rusty Truck in Riverton on December 13th, starting at 6:00 pm. A total of twelve teachers, counselors, and behavioral workers from each of the participating Riverton schools will be spotlighted during the event. This event features a four-course meal, live music performances, raffles, silent auction, live auction, a DJ, and so much more! Check out the full details for the evening here.
Donations for both the silent auction and live auction would be appreciated. If you would like to donate, purchase tickets, or have questions, you can reach Valerie by email, their Facebook page, or by calling (307) 240-1432.
