#Activate10: Midvale ice fishing derby to benefit local baby

(Midvale, WY) – The 10th Annual Midvale Benefit Ice Fishing Derby kicks off on Ocean Lake the weekend of January 15th. While things will be a little different this year, the mission of raising funds for local residents in need remains the same.

Half of the $15/individual entry fee and all cash donations will go to 6-month-old Emalee Filman who has undergone surgeries for a heart defect and was diagnosed with chylothorax. The money will help with medical expenses and the family’s travel to and from Denver for her treatments.

In addition, donations for the Filman family can be made at the Midvale Store and Central Bank and Trust – both Lander and Riverton locations – the account is called the “Emmalee Fund” and is under Nancy Filman.

Fishing begins at 12:00 pm on Friday, January 15th and the last weigh-in is at 10:00 am on Sunday, January 17th. You can register for the derby at the Midvale Store. Due to COVID restrictions, there will not be a silent auction, nor the chili cook-off and awards ceremony to wrap up the derby. Click here for more info on the derby including weigh-in times, locations, fishing regulations, and more.

There is a raffle happening instead of the silent auction. Proceeds from this will also go to the Filman family. Tickets are $10 each or 6 for $50 and can be purchased at the Midvale Store, Cedar Bar, and The Print Shop.

Find more info on the flyer below or call the Midvale Store at (307) 856-9911.
