#Activate10: LanderLIVE finds new home with local nonprofit

“Our community is large and wildly diverse, which is at the same time our strength and our weakness. #Activate10 is a movement seeking to increase communication between individuals and organizations across Fremont County and to promote positive action in our communities.”

(Lander, WY) – New nonprofit, Lander Presents, announced the takeover of the concert series LanderLIVE as well as their plan to promote Lander through music, film and celebration.

The group of passionate locals behind the nonprofit are dedicated to this initiative and hope to continue LanderLIVE’s work in achieving a vision of economic development through high-profile events that bring locals and visitors together.

For the past five years, the Lander Chamber of Commerce brought big-name music acts to the community under the banner of LanderLIVE. The series hosted several Grammy-nominated artists including the Wood Brothers, Southern Avenue, and Marcus King Band as well as live music sensations like Lake Street Dive, Reckless Kelly, Shovels and Rope, and Futurebirds.

The series was just as much about what a special place Lander is as it was a testament to how our appealing small town could attract world-class acts, shared Lander Presents. LanderLIVE was a success; so much so that it outgrew the Lander Chamber of Commerce.

“It’s been a tough year for everyone. Never have live events that highlight the beauty and energy of our community been more welcomed,” shared Jeff Stanbury, President for Lander Presents. “Our goal is to pick up where LanderLIVE left off and eventually expand to outdoor activities, film and other cool community events. Our first event will be announced in the coming days. We’ll be offering sponsorships for individuals and businesses that offer special perks.”

Lander Presents Board Members include Brendon Weaver, MJ Greene, Fabian Lobera, Jenna Ackerman, Garth Reber, Jagoe Warren and Kendall Hayford.

“We are thrilled that we can place LanderLIVE in the capable hands of Jeff and his team at Lander Presents,” said Owen Sweeney, Executive Director of the Lander Chamber of Commerce. “LanderLIVE became so successful that the business and visitor center services the Chamber provides began to be overwhelmed. We suggested spinning off LanderLIVE to a new organization dedicated solely to running the LanderLIVE series. Now in the hands of its most passionate boosters, LanderLIVE has an even bigger and brighter future ahead.”

Demonstrating its commitment to the success of Lander Presents, the Lander Chamber of Commerce has generously donated its stage to the City of Lander and was vital in securing initial grant money for Lander Presents through its Tourism Asset Development Grant Program and Destination Lander Committee.

Funding is necessary for Lander Presents to bring stage events to Fremont County.

“We’ve begun reaching out to area like-minded business owners and community development organizations, but we also need locals to become a part of our family,” Lander Presents said.

They will be offering multi-level sponsorship packages very soon. If you are interested in sponsoring Lander Presents, please contact [email protected].

Lander’s foremost organization for promoting local philanthropy and volunteerism immediately recognized Lander Presents’ potential to benefit the community. The Lander Community Foundation, via their “Challenge for Charities” annual drive, has provided options for donations to Lander Presents that can be further matched by their foundation to amplify each dollar contributed.
