#Activate10: Fund set up for families impacted by Wasatch explosion

“Our community is large and wildly diverse, which is at the same time our strength and our weakness. #Activate10 is a movement seeking to increase communication between individuals and organizations across Fremont County and to promote positive action in our communities.”

(Shoshoni, WY) – Donations are being collected for the families directly affected by the explosion on April 21 at the Wasatch Railcar Repair. Donations can be made in-person, by mail, or online.

The Wasatch Victims Benefit Fund was created by the Shoshoni Chief of Police Chris Konija in conjunction with the nonprofit Riverton Depot Foundation and supported by the Town of Shoshoni’s governing body.

“On April 21, 2021, while working at the Wasatch Railcar Repair Facility, Daniel Conway and Dallas Mitchell were killed when the contents of the railcar tanker they were working on suddenly exploded,” Konija shared. “The tragedy has shocked the small community of Shoshoni.”

“The purpose of the fund is to help alleviate the financial hardships and sudden loss of income during this time of extreme grief and sorrow encounter by the families directly impacted.”

Donations can be made anonymously and directly to the Riverton Depot Foundation c/o Wasatch Victims Benefit Fund, 205 S. Broadway Ave, Riverton, WY 82501. RDF is a nonprofit, so all donations made to them are tax deductible.

Donations may also be made at Central Bank and Trust to the Wasatch Victims Benefit Fund bank account. A GoFundMe has also been set up and donations can be made online here.
