#Activate10: Annual ‘Christmas Basket Program’ is underway; toy donations needed

The Lander Elks B.P.O.E. #2317 and the Holy Rosary Catholic Church are holding their annual Christmas Basket Program for Fremont County residents in need. They are hoping to have around 300 baskets of food and toys this year.

Toy collection bins have been set up at a few locations in Lander including NOLS Headquarters, Gambles, Fremont Toyota, Elks Lodge, Muse, Fremont Therapy, and Shear Perfection Salon & Spa. Toys are needed for all ages from 0-18, and this year they are asking for all donations to be new and in the packaging (not gift wrapped). Drop-offs are going on now through December 17th.

Monetary donations are also welcome and can be dropped off or mailed to the Lander Elks Lodge located at 492 Lincoln Street.

Those wishing to receive a Christmas Basket this year should follow the instructions on the document found here. Please note the final day to submit the request for a basket has been updated to Friday, December 18th.

In addition, gift wrapping will commence on December 19th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Due to COVID, the wrapping will take place at the Lander City Fire Hall so folks can socially distance – face masks are still required. Only 25 people will be allowed inside at one time, so they plan to have groups of 25 rotate. Gift wrapping supply donations are also appreciated.

The Christmas Baskets delivery and pick-up is happening on Sunday, December 20th at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Volunteers should be there at 11:00 am. Social distancing protocols will be followed.
