7th annual Riverton Peace March planned for July 24th

(Riverton, WY) – The 2021 Riverton Peace March is taking place on Saturday, July 24th, at 10 am. Participants will begin at Rotary Park and walk down Main Street to the City Park Bandshell for a keynote speaker address.

The march began in 2015 following the shooting at the Center of Hope that injured Sonny Goggles and killed Stallone Trosper. “Since then, we have organized a peaceful protest against violence and racism in this community,” shared organizer Ron Howard.

The keynote speaker for this year has not been confirmed at this time. They are also asking a Color Guard, a drum group, and someone to run sound to join them. Since this is a nonprofit, they are collecting donations to pay these folks for their time and efforts.

The march was planned after Sundance this year so people will have time to recoup, Howard noted.

“We are encouraging but not requiring masks for the march. If you choose not to wear one, you’re still very welcome to join us, but we would ask that you respect the personal space of those who choose to wear a mask.”

Attendees should also come prepared for warm weather with water and anything else you may need.
