    64-year-old Fremont County man facing multiple counts

    All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    Robert Burress, Jr., 64, of Fremont County, is facing one count possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver – 2nd or subsequent offense, one count conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine, one count unauthorized use of vehicle, and one count wrongful taking or disposing of property.

    The charges are related to an investigation by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) between March 1st, 2018 and August 6th, 2019. Burress waived his preliminary hearing on August 14th, 2019. The case is being transferred to District Court for arraignment.

    Court documents describe messages from a phone seized on March 13th, 2019 that belonged to a known distributor of controlled substances. Those text message conversations allegedly conclude Burress “was the source of supply to the owner of the seized phone.” On April 9th, 2019, the owner of the seized phone reported they had purchased methamphetamine multiple times for almost a year from Burress. It is also reported Burress received money transfers from known users and distributors of methamphetamine in Fremont County.

    On August 6th, 2019, Burress was pulled over for driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen on August 1st, 2019. The officer searched the vehicle and allegedly found a scale, three baggies of suspected methamphetamine and a glass pipe. All three baggies tested “presumptive positive for methamphetamine.”

    Burress is being charged with:

    • One count possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver – 2nd or subsequent offense (felony) has a maximum penalty of imprisonment for not more than 40 years, a fine of not more than $50,000 or both.
    • One count conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine (felony) has a maximum penalty of imprisonment for not more than 40 years, a fine of not more than $50,000 or both.
    • One count unauthorized use of vehicle (misdemeanor) has a maximum penalty of imprisonment for not more than 1 year, a fine of not more than $1,000 or both.
    • One count wrongful taking or disposing of property (misdemeanor) has a maximum penalty of imprisonment for not more than 6 months, a fine of not more than $750 or both.
