    61-year-old Wyoming man died in Wednesday morning collision

    (Carbon County, WY) – Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) officers were informed of a crash Wednesday morning, 8:35 AM, on WY-230, that resulted in one fatality and one injury, according to a WHP preliminary report.

    The deceased has been identified as 61-year-old Wyoming resident Reginald Thornburg.

    According to the report, a vehicle was northbound on WY-230, near mile marker 110, while Thornburg was southbound.

    The roadway was covered in ice and snow with visibility at about 100 yards according to first responders on the scene.

    Evidence on scene and statements made by the driver of the vehicle indicate that Thornburg began to fishtail before entering a passenger-side leading slide, when the rear passenger side of his vehicle collided with the front of the other.

    Thornburg was using his seat belt, and while no other clear possible contributing factors were listed, the report did indicate icy, frosty, and wind blowing conditions.

    There have been 11 fatalities on Wyoming’s roadways in 2022 compared to 14 in 2021, 7 in 2020, and 18 in 2019 to date.
