All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Daniel Trujillo, 58, of Fremont County, is facing two 3rd or Subsequent Domestic Battery charges, along with one count Unlawful Contact and one count Interference with Emergency Calls. The charges come after a report of multiple physical altercations that are alleged to have occurred in Riverton between July 2018 and October 2019.
Trujillo waived his preliminary hearing on February 19th, 2020. The case has been transferred to District Court for arraignment. The court date is set for March 5th, 2020.
Court documents describe several violent physical assaults in which Trujillo allegedly shoved and then dragged the victim by their arm. He also reportedly held the victim down, pressed on their chest, and then “‘smashed’ his phone into their face several times.” During one of the reported assaults, Trujillo took the victim’s phone after they attempted to call 911.
Trujillo also allegedly threatened and verbally assaulted the victim on several occasions, according to the court documents. The most recent was in January 2020.
Trujillo has prior domestic violence convictions including: Battery of Household Member on 12/9/2019 in Sweetwater County, Wyoming; Battery of Household Member on 2/28/2011; Felonious Restraint on 2/28/2011; and Influencing, Intimidating or Impeding Jurors or Witnesses on 2/28/2011 in Sweetwater County, Wyoming.
Domestic Battery – 3rd of Subsequent charge is a felony with a maximum penalty of imprisonment for no more than 10 years, a fine of no more than $10,000 or both. Unlawful Contact is a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of imprisonment for no more than 6 months, a fine of no more than $750, or both. Interference with Emergency Calls is a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of imprisonment for no more than 6 months, a fine of no more than $750, or both.
