31st Annual Lew Diehl ‘Hooked On Fishing’ Derby winners announced

    (Riverton, WY) A total of 154 young anglers came out for last weekend’s ‘Hooked on Fishing (Not Drugs)’ event held at Rendezvous Ponds.

    Riverton Kiwanis has hosted the ‘Lew Diehl Fishing Derby’ every year for 31 years, in concert with Wyoming Game and Fish’s Free Fishing Day held annually on the first Saturday of June.

    Primary sponsors for this year’s event were B&M Septic and North Platt Walleye, who donated the fishing poles and tackle boxes. Volunteers were from Riverton Kiwanis and K-Club, with big thanks going to Wyoming Game & Fish for their support.


    This year’s winners are as follows:

    AGES 1-4:

    1st Place: Paisley Naef, 17” Bass

    2nd Place: Brantley Hernandez, 13.5” Trout


    3rd Place: Tristen Lynch, 13.5” Trout

    4th Place: Lyla Lynch, 9.25” Bass

    AGES 8-10:


    1st Place: Lukas Grave, 25.75” Carp

    2nd Place: Adriana Beush, 16.75” Bass

    3rd Place: Ethan Reed, 16.25” Bass


    4th Place: Ronan Phillips, 14.25” Trout

    AGES 11-14:

    1st Place: Leah Edwards, 24.5” Carp

    2nd Place: Dwight Spoonhunter, 17.5” Catfish

    3rd Place: Santiago Piplica, 15.25” Trout

    4th Place: Talia Vogelsang, 15.25” Carp

    First Weighed Fish: Faith Edwards

    Most Fish Caught: Salvador Piplica
