Roughly 300 soldiers from Wyoming Army National Guard units will be heading to the Middle East between January and September 2019.
The soldiers will represent at least six different National Guard units.
According to an Associated Press release, the deployment will be the largest number of Wyoming troops in nearly 10 years.
A Military Department spokesperson told the Casper Star Tribune, that the units set to head overseas include artillery and Blackhawk medical evacuation teams. The spokesman says each deployment is expected to last about nine months, but one unit is expected to be overseas for a year.
Units will likely be deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates.
