Wind River High School freshmen are hosting a 3-on-3 basketball tournament fundraiser Thursday night.
The event will generate money for the WRHS prom of 2024, which this year’s freshmen will host as juniors.
It’s a school tradition, math teacher and freshman class sponsor Tara Cottrill explained.
“Every year out here the junior class hosts prom,” she said. “We are fundraising so when this class of students are juniors, they have funds in their account.”
The tournament begins at 6:15 p.m. Thursday in the main gym at WRHS, 1994 Cougar Drive in Pavillion.
The event is open to the public, and barbecue and baked goods will be available for purchase.
The round-robin tournament will feature 10-minute, short-court games, with a $60 cash prize for the winning team.
Registration to compete costs $5 per child and $10 for each person older than 12.
There are no age divisions, and each team must include at least one female.
Sign-up packets are available in the school’s main office and may be returned to Cottrill.
