Just before 11:00 pm on January 8th, the Wyoming Highway Patrol was dispatched to a fatal one-vehicle rollover near milepost 189 on I-90 east of Sundance.
27-year-old Keelie Garvin, of Gillette, was westbound on the interstate when she lost control on the ice-covered roadway, according to WHP. The vehicle overturned after exiting the roadway and entering the median.
Garvin was wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the crash. The passenger was wearing her seatbelt and transported to the Crook County Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.
Speeding too fast for road conditions is being investigated as a possible contributing factor.
This is the 4th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021 compared to 1 in 2020, 3 in 2019, and 1 in 2018 to date.
