    28 graduated from Wyoming Indian High School Sunday

    (Ethete, WY) – Wyoming Indian High School held its commencement ceremony on Sunday afternoon, May 23rd. 28 students were celebrated during graduation this year which was held in the high school gymnasium where small pods of their friends and family could be in attendance.

    Will Peters was the Master of Ceremonies for the Feather Tying Ceremony at the beginning of the graduation. The opening prayer and closing prayer were provided by Arlen Shoyo and Nelson White, respectively. And the Ceremony Welcome was provided by student Keely Washakie.

    Graduating student Jaci Iron Cloud and her younger sister Heather sang a special Thank You Song during the ceremony for the Class of 2021. Both Eagle Drum and North Bear played during the commencement including the Opening Song, Flag Song, Honor Song for Graduates and Closing Song.

    The Class of 2021 Valedictorian and Salutatorian are Jaden Ferris and Angela Astorga, respectively.

    Teacher and coach Julie Her Many Horses was the ceremony’s Community Speaker. She is retiring at the end of this school year after over 30 years of teaching at Wyoming Indian.

    Randy’L Teton was the Professional Speaker for this year’s graduating class. She is the Public Affairs Manager and the official spokesperson for the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes.

    The Class of 2021 includes: Peter Antelope, Angela Astorga, Jalen Big Knife, Evonn C’Hair, Faith Daniels, Jaden Ferris, Jolynn Fighting Bear, Margaret Friday, Sandie Friday, Austin Hill, Corwin Howell, Jaci Iron Cloud, Jaron Iron Eyes, Hailey Jenkins, Arielle John, Taelynn Manzanares, Justice Moss, Derek Nipwater, Chaunte Redman, Skyla Shakespeare, Lorelai Shavehead, Owen St. Clair, Dustin Trosper, Brandon Underwood, Mercedes Ute, Keely Washakie, Dorianna White and Michael Willow.

    The class flower this year is the rose. Red, Columbia blue and silver are the colors. Their motto is by Malcolm Forbes: “Heal the past, Live the present, Dream the future.” And finally, the class song is “The Good Life” by Kanye West.
