    $250K in CARES funding awarded to the City of Lander

    The City of Lander announced today, October 5th, the State Land and Investment Board (SLIB) awarded them $250,000 of CARES Act funding.

    “The funds are restricted for use on construction that will allow the City and Municipal Court to accommodate CDC social distancing guidelines,” the announcement said. “The project includes installing upgrades to virtual technology and security.”

    “The Court and Council proceedings have been hampered greatly during the pandemic. This remodel will combine the Courtroom and Council Chambers to create a larger shared space. The new room will have updated technology for virtual proceedings and the capability to record all proceedings.”

    The City of Lander has already received two funding awards from SLIB due to the pandemic.

    “The City has received previous awards of $40,000 in COVID expenses (like PPE, sanitation supplies, and technology) and $65,000 in overtime pay due to COVID operations.”
