(Lander, WY) – LVHS has qualified 24 of 29 athletes for the Wyoming 3A swimming and diving championships, with plans to add more Tigers to the state roster during the annual Bruce Gresly Memorial Invite in Lander.
The hosts will welcome Buffalo, Cheyenne South, Cody, Douglas, Green River, Kemmerer, Lander, Rawlins, Riverton and Rock Springs to town on Saturday.
Lander Valley’s nine seniors — Ross Anderson, Elijah Applegate, Brennen Blackburn, Ramsey Eckhardt, Jonny Kulow, Nolan McFadden, Luke Morneau, Sonny Robinson and Sam Rogers — will be honored along with their families during a ceremony after the 50 yard freestyle.
Tiger divers Morneau, juniors Joel Bever, Noah Larson and Logan Wietzki, and freshman Dylan Blunck and Gage Hampton will lead off the meet. The diving competition begins at 10:30 on Saturday morning. Swimming events will commence 15 minutes after the final dive.
Last Saturday, LVHS won the Laramie January Invite. The 25-time defending 3A state champs tallied 315 points, followed by host Laramie, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne South and Kelly Walsh. The 12-team field included 10 squads from the 4A ranks.
A quartet of Tiger bros led off the meet with a convincing victory in the 200 medley relay. Seniors Jonny Kulow and Nolan McFadden teamed with sophomore siblings Benny Kulow and Reed McFadden to finish in 1:39.28, five seconds ahead of the field.
Jonny Kulow took the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly, while Benny Kulow doubled up with victories in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke. Senior Brennen Blackburn won the 100 free.

Juniors Scott Logan and Dylan Huelskamp teamed with Benny Kulow and Blackburn to win the 200 free relay.
Blackburn, Huelskamp, Nolan McFadden and Jonny Kulow — four All-Americans a year ago — closed out the day for the Tigers with a victory in the 400 freestyle relay.
Tuesday, the Tigers dueled Green River at the Bruce Gresly Aquatics Center.
The 200 medley relay team of Larson, freshman Jacksen Washburn, and juniors Brayden Brown and Huelskamp touched first in 1:57.59.
Blackburn bested the field in the 100 butterfly. Reed McFadden took the 200 free, and freshman Sequeil Lozier placed first in the 200 IM. Jonny Kulow swept the freestyle sprints, clocking 21.48 in the 50 and 48.23 in the 100.
After 500 yards, 13 hundredths of a second separated first and second. Brown — defending 3A state champion in the event — narrowly out touched teammate Benny Kulow.
The foursome of Reed McFadden, freshman Shane Cunningham, junior Caleb Else and Jonny Kulow claimed victory in the 200 free relay. Benny Kulow took the 100 backstroke. The dual concluded with junior Justin Whelan, Brown, Else and Benny Kulow winning the 400 freestyle relay.
LVHS and guest Cheyenne South will combine and scramble squads for a dual on Friday at 4:00 at the Bruce Gresly Aquatics Center ahead of Saturday’s Memorial Invite.
